Programme Appraisal

A programme or project appraisal is the analysis of a proposed programme or project to determine its merit and acceptability in accordance with established criteria.

Often these criteria are technical, economical, ecological and financial.

An appraisal is the final stage before a programme or project is validated for financing.

Programme appraisal is a useful and possibly necessary step after programme formulation and just before programme implementation begins.

Our conduct of programme appraisal evaluates the programme or project against the situation on the ground.

Specifically, we assess whether the objectives remain appropriate and that the costs are reasonable. This is particularly necessary when significant time has elapsed since initial programme formulation.

We have experience in carrying out programme appraisal for programmes of varying scope.
